Day 7: Consolidation 1

Lesson 0: Intro

Welcome to your first consolidation day.

You may have heard of something called spaced repetition. If you have then you may already know why today and tomorrow are important days.

If you don't then here's what you need to know:

When you learn something, your brain puts it into storage, your memory. After first putting it there you will have pretty good recall for a couple of days, from there the recall will slowly decrease.

So you need to recall it again, look at it, think about it and then put it back.

This will make it a bit easier to recall it for a little longer.

The more times you do this the better the recall and retention will be. If you keep grabbing that knowledge, using it, looking at it and then putting it back you will eventually cement it in your brain forever and it will become second nature.

So, this is why it's important to review what you have learned. We haven't done any consolidation days so far because you have been using what you've learnt on each day. But we've just bolted on the concept of functions and loops at the end here, so it's important to do a review before going forward to force some of the repetition in.

With than in mind, let's go back to the start and today cover:

  1. Simple Types
  2. Collection Types
  3. Logic

Let's go!
